The fist unit for my Viking SAGA warband. Easy first point with only 4 minis. Hope I get all 6 points and some extras done before the end of February. Models from
Artizan except for the one swinging the Axe who is from
Foundry. Shield decals are from the excellent
Little Big Men Studios.
The next unit on it's way....Berserkers
Oustanding figures!
ReplyDeleteWonderful work as always Michael! As was mentioned on the contest really nice subdued tonal quality to your painting. Looking forward to the next unit. You seem to pick subjects near and dear to me with ACW and now Vikings.:-)

Wicked paint job. Did you distress the shield decals to look a bit weathered? They have an authentic, aged look to them.
ReplyDeleteVery nicely painted, Mike!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done Michael! You are really making these hard to resist.
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed! How do you tone down the lighter shades?
ReplyDeleteCracking figures!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat paint job! The shield transfers turned out nice too!

ReplyDeleteDamn good work Mike, beautifully done.....
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteMike, these are tremendous. I really like the way you've distressed the shields. Very realistic colouring, straight from the sagas!
ReplyDeleteThanks, these are quality models to paint.
ReplyDelete@mr. Bigglesworth: Some of the designs have a battered look. On the middle two I did a little extra work and looking at the comments I will probably do it for the others as well..
@Dux: I use the 3 (sometimes more) layer method from the Foundry painting book; start with darkest colour and then apply lighter colours leaving some of the darker shade visible. I thin the paint for smoother transition of colours. And what really helps to tone down is testors dullcote. Can't do without it.
Great looking vikings, Mike ...look extremely realistic
ReplyDeletefantastic figures!!!
ReplyDeletewhy you don't a look, Impetus Rules?
You can make wonderful bases!!!
